As always, it felt like an eternity since we last got to see the bright blue sky above us. At this time of year, the sky is usually cloudy and dark and gray. Winter in our region can sometimes be gloomy and depressing, as the sun rarely makes an appearance. It usually rains or snows, and many people simply see no reason to go outside.
But there is a first time for everything this year, and that includes the sun. This time the sun wanted to delight us a little earlier and came out already in January. A few days ago, it was already sunny in the morning and the sky showed its blue side all the time.
Even though we started the day a little slower, we still wanted to take the opportunity to get some fresh air. At this time of year, we all need a bit of real light and sunshine, which is why we wanted to go for a little walk outside.
We chose a local park and I was very surprised at how much snow there still was. It had actually all melted on our doorstep, but just a few minutes' drive away, it suddenly looked completely different. Perhaps the vast parkland makes for cooler temperatures, so there were still large patches of snow to be seen in many places.
The little ones were of course delighted, although we weren't quite prepared for it, at least in terms of pants. However, there was still time for a little romp and we didn't miss out on the playground either.
Unfortunately, the sun still sets quite early, even though you can already tell that the days are getting a bit longer. But it will be a while before we can fully enjoy the afternoons and stay outside much later. At the moment we're hoping for a little more snow and then we want to come back to this park. There are also a few smaller hills there that should be pretty good for sledding. And that's exactly what we want to try next time, so fingers crossed that we can put this idea into practice soon...
