Parts of Google Maps in Ukraine have been temporarily blocked due to the ongoing tensions in the country. Google confirmed the matter on Saturday, saying it would cut off live information about traffic conditions and how busy different places are.

Reuters online reports that in consultation with the country's regional authorities, busy areas such as shops and restaurants, traffic levels and live information-providing activities have been shut down worldwide to protect people.

On Thursday, Russian forces attacked Ukraine in the name of conducting a "special operation." Civilians are being killed in missile attacks in Ukrainian cities. More than 400,000 Ukrainian women and children have fled to neighboring countries.

Major technology companies, including Google, have said they are taking new steps to protect users in the region.

Google Maps helped him track down a "traffic jam," said a professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California. The traffic jam was caused by Russian troops on their way to the Ukrainian border. He was speaking just hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the attack.

However, Google said that there is a service for local drivers to take turns or navigate the road.
