Winter usually promises cold temperatures and lots of snow, even if this has not always been the case in recent years. Here in Japan, too, the climate seems to be changing and it is getting hotter in summer and milder in winter. Some people are happy, others are worried. Both can be understood, especially if you remember what it was like not so long ago. It used to snow a lot more, and this also affected the region of Japan where I currently live. I can confirm this myself, because in recent years winter has increasingly been holding back. This year is no exception, although a few days ago we received quit a big treat. It became white everywhere you looked. But snow doesn't just mean problems and difficulties, it can also be fun. I at least try to enjoy the white splendor and make the most of it. And I'm not the only one who seems to be doing this; the little ones among us seem to be in a particularly good mood these days and are desperate to get outside. And this mood doesn't just apply to the youngest among us, there are also plenty of other people who don't want to miss out on the chance to be small again. Building a snowman is a very special pleasure these days. I surely include myself here, and I am happy about every snowman I meet outside. Just like these two fellows, which were even built before the big snowfall. Although it may not appear that way in the photos, they are bigger than most of the other snowmen I normally come across. What's more, the balls used to make them are so wonderfully round. That makes me quite envious! It's still white outside, even though the snow has become much wetter. Let's see, maybe we'll get another chance to build a fancy snowman. We normally use three balls, but here in Japan people only use two. I think it's also to do with the stability, because as it always gets a bit warmer soon, my snowmen don't usually stand for long. But I'll work on that and maybe the next one will manage to stay in shape a little longer. I would be delighted.
